Finally, the perfect gift. August 4, 2010 Shane Hilyard Our son (turns 4 on 8/6) has been Dinosaur Train crazy since he started watching since the beginning the show aired. Since then we have tried to find toys, pillows, blankets, and all the other things that go with cartoons these days (tired of Dora and Sponge Bob). Finally, in a last-ditch effort to find that gift that will send him over-the-top, we searched and found out that they were releasing Dinosaur Train toys on August 1st. So on July 27th we ordered as many as we could and they arrived today, just as Amazon said, which is 2 days before the big party. We ordered the entire set of cars and figures, the train a 3-piece sets. Simply amazing in the details, the durability and just fantastic. We hope our son is as excited when he opens the box, as we have been when we ordered and received them today. Thank you sooo much for finally coming out with the Dinosaur Train toys. Now we are planning to get the remaing things, such as the plush toys, train track and interactive figures over the course of the holiday season.
Excellent, my 2 year old loves it! September 6, 2010 N. Singelee (Berkshire, U.K) I don't think this is poorly made at all! My 2year old son adores it, the track and train have been thrown around many times and everything is still together and in working order. I agree that the figures do not fit in the pegs on the train, but that is the only negative.
Am planning to buy the whole set!
Dino-riffic! August 9, 2010 K. Cox 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My 3 and 5 year olds love this train! The train is ok quality- not as nice solid as Geotrax but i'm not too concerned about it breaking. Sadly it is just the right size to not be compatable with our Geotrax set (we do have a tunnel that it mostly fits through- if Laura the Giganotasaurus gets off) so they like using that as a time tunnel. The train says a few phrases and lights up when it goes through the time tunnel. Not too load or obnoxious. The cars are easy for a little one to connect/ disconnect but as a result don't hold together well if you want to pick up the whole thing. The figures are ok quality and have nice detail (very true to the show) BUT they don't all stand well on thier own- esp on a moving train. They have a hole in thier feet and a matching "peg" in the train cars- but the hole in the foot is too small! GAH!!! The kids don't care doesn't care but I'm a bit dissappointed. I got it at the store with the giraffe mascot for $[...] We also got some train car/ figure sets as well for $[...] a piece. Each box has little facts about the different dinosaurs.
This is it? August 9, 2010 Jenny L. Clauson (Seattle, WA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I pre-ordered this for my 2 1/2 year old twins who love this show. It arrived last week, and I'm very dissapointed. The train is surprisingly small for a cartoon aimed at young children. It's also cheaply made. The top piece of the engine fell off immediately and won't stay on. The cars don't connect well. They have enjoyed playing with it, but I doubt it will last through the month.
Does the job August 23, 2010 K. Kane (Atlanta, GA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Most exciting feature of this product is that when my child presses the smoke stack, it provides great sounds: the conducter saying, "Time tunnel; next stop the cretaceous time period, etc," as well as part of the Dinosaur Train theme song. Hoping this feature will last as long as the toy does - won't become inaudible over time.
The trains are easy for my 4-year old to remove and attach without constantly coming apart; so, that's nice. It's a good toy for the price. My son loves it (took it to preschool to show his teacher and friends). As I have mentioned in other reviews, the action figures do not stand up (or stay standing up) very well and can be very frustrating, but there's no other options out there (not interested in interactive dinos or plush ones).
